Petition to get a manned taxi office reinstated at Erith Station
Yesterday (6 December), I took a train from Erith Station and noticed a police appeal poster for a 'serious sexual assault' that took place on 20 November against a 17 year old girl. Since the taxi office has been bought by Amber Cars, closed and relocated to Plumstead, with just a buzzer to order a taxi, I believe has led to Erith Station become almost derelict, devoid of any people or safety after dark. Security cameras work, but they're an after-the-event aid and not a preventative measure. Although I do not believe that taxi office workers are security guards who should ensure safety, I believe that having the manned office present, with the occasional taxi parked outside does act as a deterrent.

I believe that commuters pay an astronomical amount of money each year for the privilege of using the service, and I believe that it is the SouthEastern / Network Rail's responsibility (as well as the local council's) to do their utmost to ensure that passenger safety is achieved both on the train and around the station. I do not believe that this is being achieved at Erith Station with the station being absolutely unmanned in the early evening, and being situated in a non-residential area.

If you feel that the station would benefit once again, from having a manned taxi office to act as a deterrent to crime, then please sign the form brlow to join the petition. I will submit this to Bexley Borough in accordance with its Petitions Scheme, as well as submitting it to Network Rail and SouthEastern.
